Local Suppliers

We share a strong passion with our suppliers for both home grown and local produce.

This is a region of rich fertile soils perfect for growing and cultivating the tastiest and best of British fruit and veg and for feeding and breeding all manner of free range birds and livestock to produce the most succulent organic meats. We’re also lucky to be just a short distance from the Dorset coast, with Devon and Cornwall a little further afield, for a fabulously varied selection of fresh fish on a daily basis.

We love to use allotment growers for our fruit and vegetable supplies and always welcome new growers. Somerset farms provide us with salsify, butternut, carrots, peas and Maris Pipers. Red Barn Farm supplies our asparagus and our Heritage tomatoes come from the Isle of Wight.

We’re also keen on a bit of foraging here and there ourselves, with the kitchen team often heading off to their own secret inland and coastal spots for anything from sloe berries to seaweeds. Within our own walled garden we grow a lovely selection of edible flowers and herbs, apples, quince and seasonal vegetables. Currently on our menu are our own elderflowers, lemon balm, spearmint, lavender, walnuts, nettles and wild garlic. Some of these are also enjoyed by our own bees who provide us with our Eastbury honey from the garden hives.

Buffalo Mozzarella & Black Pudding
Comes from Jody Scheckter’s Laverstock Park. Jody started his organic/biodynamic farm in Hampshire to produce the best-tasting, healthiest food without compromise for himself and his family. However, when he realised as a smallholder that it meant eating beef continuously for eight weeks whenever a cow was slaughtered he decided to make the same food available to the public.

From Capreolous in Rampisham, including our pancetta, saucisson sec, and smoked ham hocks, made from Oxford Sandy & Black pigs reared in Halstock, south of Yeovil.

Cheese from Dorset
From James’s Cheese, Child Okeford, Dorset. This is totally yummy!

Cheese from Somerset
Homewood Farm based in Ubley in the beautiful Chew Valley, just south of Bristol, make cheeses by hand with ewes milk from two Somerset flocks.

Thatchers Cider from Sandford in Somerset. Matured in 100 year old casks and still very much a family business.

Blackmore Vale cream, milk and hand churned butter comes from Longmans in North Cadbury.

Merrifield Farm in Crediton, Devon suppliers of the best Creedy Carver ducks.

Free range hen’s eggs from Jason and Emma at Silverthorne Farm, Milborne Wick.

Kingfisher in Cornwall, Samways in West Bay and Jon the Fish Man from Brixham supply all our fresh fish sourcing directly from the day fishing vessels. Our favourites are the Hake from Brixham, scallops from Lyme Bay and crab from Poole.

Fruit Cordials
Intense flavours and the best ingredients from Luscombe drinks in Buckfastleigh, Devon.

For a unique and intricate gin of ten select botanicals, Conker Gin is distilled and bottled at Dorset’s first gin distillery, nestled in the back streets of Bournemouth.

Goats Curd

Woodsford Leaves in Dorchester supplies us with greens in the form of rocket, spinach and watercress.

Jams & Chutneys
Delicious Rhubarb Jam and our own Eastbury Tarragon Mustard from Suzie at The Alweston Jam & Chutney Empire, Alweston, Dorset. Overall UK Artisan Champion 2011.

Parsons, our local butchers here in Sherborne, supply us with pork from Bridport and lamb from Bridgehampton.

Fantastic nibbles to have with pre-dinner drinks from Olives et Al in Sturminster Newton.
